Godambi (Marking Nut Kernel)

Properties

Godambi is the kernel of the Marking Nut (Semecarpus anacardium), historically used to mark clothes by washermen (Dhobi nut). Visually similar to a small cashew, it is NOT a standard food item. It is classified as a Visha Dravya (poisonous substance) in Ayurveda. It must never be consumed raw or handled without professional knowledge due to the highly corrosive toxic resin (bhilawanols) in its shell.
