This refers to the whole Marking Nut or Bhilawa (Semecarpus anacardium), which contains the Godambi kernel. It earns its name from the dark, caustic resin exuded by the pericarp, traditionally used as an indelible ink for marking laundry. It is highly poisonous in its raw state. The corrosive oil causes intense skin blistering upon contact. It is strictly a medicinal ingredient requiring complex traditional purification before formulation.
