Nigella Seedsकलौंजी

Properties
Nigella Seeds (कलौंजी), botanically known as Nigella sativa, are small, matte-black, teardrop-shaped seeds. They are often erroneously referred to as black cumin or black onion seeds, despite being entirely botanically unrelated to both.
They possess a pungent, slightly bitter flavor with notes of toasted onions, oregano, and black pepper. They are a staple in the Bengali five-spice blend (Panch Phoron) and are widely used to flavor naan breads, pickles, and savory pastries.
