Rampatri Flakes (Broken)रामपत्री (टूटा हुआ)

Rampatri Flakes (Broken)

Properties

Broken Rampatri Flakes (रामपत्री), scientifically Myristica malabarica, are the fragmented arils (the lacy covering of the seed) of the Malabar nutmeg tree. It is often referred to as "false mace" or "Bombay mace."

Visually and aromatically similar to true mace, Rampatri lacks the intense, refined, and sweet-warm complexity of genuine Myristica fragrans. Instead, it has a milder, somewhat woody and less volatile flavor profile. While it has its own traditional culinary and medicinal uses, its broken flake form is most notoriously utilized in the commercial spice trade to adulterate genuine mace powders.

Reported Health Issues if Excess

Use caution and consult a healthcare professional.

High Adulteration Risk

Due to its morphological similarity, Rampatri is heavily used as an illegal adulterant for true, high-value Mace (Myristica fragrans). Broken flakes make visual identification even more difficult.
