Waigaon Turmeric is a highly specific, GI-tagged variety of Curcuma longa cultivated exclusively in the Wardha district of Maharashtra. It is renowned for its very dark, mustard-yellow color, pungent aroma, and incredibly high curcumin content (often exceeding 6%). Because of its potency, a very small pinch is enough to deeply color and flavor a dish. It is highly valued in Ayurvedic medicine for its superior anti-inflammatory properties.
